## Units and math

- `price_oz = asset_usd / gold_usd_per_oz`
- One troy ounce = 31.1034768 grams
- USD in gold is `1 / gold_usd_per_oz`
- The Japanese yen is inverted at ingest
- Conversion happens on the server. The browser never divides by gold.
- Default denomination is gold. `?denom=usd` shows the vendor dollar price.

## Ranges

1D, 5D, 1M, 3M, 1Y, 5Y, 10Y, 20Y, plus a custom last-N days/months/years window (years capped at 20). Intraday for 1D (5-minute) and 5D (hourly); 1M and 3M use daily bars. Candle style follows Robinhood: daily on 1M/3M, weekly on 1Y and 5Y, monthly on 10Y and 20Y. Charts default to a line; `?style=candle` uses those OHLC bars; `?style=both` draws gold and dollar as two lines rebased to 100 at the start of the window. The solid line and cursor follow the open unit. The selected range is the full visible window — no pan or zoom. Gold spot (XAU) starts in 2020; earlier gold is filled from GLD scaled to dollars per ounce (GLD lists November 2004).
